The theater was founded in 2019 under the name “Riga Alternative theatre Mes W Kanoe” and initially focused on productions that reflected the unique local culture and current events. In 2021, it was renamed the “Latvian Theater of Protest Culture,” marking a shift in its mission and vision. This rebranding was accompanied by radical changes in its repertoire, which now centers on plays addressing political, humanitarian, and social issues. Our theater strives to be a space for dialogue, provocation, and reflection, offering audiences performances that explore pressing contemporary issues, evoke emotional responses, and encourage a reevaluation of existing norms.
